“The Social media is a boon if used with positive approach,” declared the Governor of Uttar Pradesh Mr.Ram Naik here after inaugurating the first ever National Seminar on Social Media and its opportunities & Challenges for the Public Relations profession organized by the Lucknow Chapter of PRSI at the Amity University Uttar Pradesh Lucknow Campus. The National President PRSI Dr. Ajeet Pathak also attended the one day program.
On this occasion the Governor elaborated that Public Relation is a sensitive profession in which one should work only with a positive approach. Although the technology is boon or bane has always been a subject of debate but the Social Media could definitely be boon for development of the country if used in a positive manner.
Addressing the PR professionals and students Shri Naik emphasized that he was student, the it was the hot topic of any discussion whether machines are boon or bane? Later when the computers were introduced in India people started arguing the same way. Now Social Media is in center of discussion. He accepted that although the PR Professionals are sincerely working hard to brighten the image of the country but they should invariably advice the governments also to reach the masses in a better way. He asked the PRSI Lucknow to submit him the recommendations of this seminar so that he may instruct the State’s 25 Government run Universities to better the PR education and practice improving the course content.
The Governor also released the Seminar’s Souvenir which has collection of abstracts of research papers presented during the seminar. On this occasion he inaugurated the seminar by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The program started with Amity students’ sung National Anthem.
Addressing to PR students and professionals PRSI national President Ajeet Pathak said that role of public relation is interpreting India to World and World to India. He said Social Media is active part of digital revolution and e-communication. Mr. Pathak apprised students and said anything goes negative on social media will remain always so use social media positively and carefully. He said we are now ignoring real life to entertain the virtual world. This practice is not good for the society.
Welcoming the Chief Guest Pro VC Amity Lucknow campus briefed them about Amity University Lucknow campus. He said that Today Social Media is showing its strong impact as parallel and fastest growing Media. Social Media is a very strong tool in hands of the common man.
On Behalf of the Chairman Amity University Uttar Pradesh Dr. Aseem k. Chauhan, Pro- VC Maj. Gen. KK. Ohri (AVSM)Retd. declared to establish a PR Chair in the University.
Earlier PRSI Lucknow Chapter Chairman Dr. Ashok Kumar Sharma delivered the welcomed address. The Secretary PRSI Ms Monalisa Chaudhary presented a brief progress report and welcomed the guests. This National Seminar witnessed the reputed academia and Researchers and PR professionals while Public Relations and Mass Communication Students of known Universities are also participated and discussed on the topic.
The first session of seminar was chaired by Mr. Narendra Mehta, Vice President PRSI North and Prof. Jaishree Jethwani, Director PR, IIMC Delhi while second session was saw a chair of Dr. Gaur Chaudhary, ex director Fortis Hospital, New Delhi, Mr. Prajnan Bhattacharya, CEO E-Media Solutions and Mr. Arvind Chaturvedi, SP STF Lucknow.
Principal Secretary, Information IAS Mr Navneet Sahgal was the Chief Guest of Valedictory ceremony of the seminar. He distributed certificates to the participants and wished for their better future. Mr. Navneet Sahgal said on the occasion that we are living in the age of information which are coming from various sources like internet, TV, Radio and biggest one is mobile phones. He said technology has changed the world in a village.
There were four parallel sessions and presentation of research papers organized during the seminar in which 45 research papers were presented by the Students as well as by PR Professionals.
Director Amity Institute of Behavioral and allied sciences Dr. Manju Agrawal, Director Amity school of Languages Dr. Kumkum Ray, Director Amity School of Fashion Technology Mrs. Pooja Verma and Dr. Rajesh Tiwari were chaired Parallel sessions. The University’s Dy. Director PR and Communication Ashutosh Chaubey sprsented the vote of thanks.
